Barham Bobo Foster papers, 1860-1861.

Letter, 20 Dec. 1860, from Foster to "My Dear Son," re South Carolina's secession from the Union; and letter, 31 July 1861, [Manassas, Va., vicinity] to "My Dear Wife," relating an account of the Confederate victory at Manassas, written on illustrated Union letterhead stationery from the battlefield; letter also records an earlier heading, "Bulls Run Battle Field, 20 July [18]61," written in different hand by a Federal soldier before the battle.
